Trip Report: Adventure Van Expo 2024
Santa Rosa, CA May 11th & 12th
We just returned from our 2nd Adventure Van Expo! And with our first production trailer to boot!
Adventure Van Expo is the ultimate gathering for those interested in #vanlife, but the event is also a great place for those of us who are in adjacent spaces. It’s an incredible gathering of van companies, businesses who support the outdoors, great food, and a lot of fun.
Morning coffee before Day 2 of the show kicked off.
We met new friends, such as out expo neighbor Coastal Mountain Vanworks, old friends, Sarah’s mentor from firefighting days, and Matt B gave a tour of the trailer on his first ever TikTok live with Sandal Sanders of sugar.life!
It was good to see that our practice at previous shows was apparent in our storytelling.
What Did We Talk About?
How much does it weigh? Again, the number one question was about weight. There are a lot of people who have Toyota Rav4s or other cars that want to get outside. At just about 1,000 lbs (1050 lbs to be exact for the Sierra), these trailers are very accessible to most vehicles. Yes, this means it can be towed by your car, your Tesla, and even your VW bus, like the Bettman family does.
The trailer was built to be towed by the Bettman Family’s VW bus…if they can tow it, you can!
How big is the bed? This again was a top question. The bed is queen sized with memory foam. We had some tall visitors come by and try it out, and all were able to make it work. If you can sleep comfortably in a queen bed, you can sleep comfortably in this bed. And yes, the littles and canines enjoyed the bed, too (to be transparent, these pics are from the last Adventure Van Expo. We were having so much fun talking to people, we forgot to take pictures)!
Oooh, cool! A BBQ! Recognizing that more and more places are no longer allowing open fire, we’ve added the option of including a Magma Kettle Grill. This gives people another option for cooking. And sticking to our belief that cooking shouldn’t be in your sleeping space, the BBQ can be removed from the trailer at the end of the night to minimize the chance of being visited by a bear.
Matt B during his live with Sandal…and a Magma Kettle Grill hanging off the side of a teardrop trailer…Cool!
Can I buy a table? Great question…There was great interest in the table and therefore, the wheels are turning about how to produce the table for sale. More to come soon.
Where can I get a t-shirt or hat? Funny you should ask. We're in the process of researching the best partner to put out high quality swag that has a minimal impact on the environment. Newsletter subscribers will be first to know when our store opens.
What if I want to buy a trailer? Great question. The first two production trailers are available NOW (see above)! Could this trailer be the best summer gift EVAR? Want to learn more or get on the waiting list? Email Matt B or Matt S with your interest and we'll set up a call so we can put you on the list.
Finally, we wrap up this trip report with a big THANK YOU to all who signed up for our newsletter. Welcome to our newcomers! We are honored to have you be part of our community.
All in all, it was a great event and we loved being there!
A quick picture of the team before the start of Day 2…all in all, it was a great weekend.
