Trip Report: Adventure Van Expo
North Lake Tahoe, CA September 16th & 17th
If Camp Nation was our soft launch, Adventure Van Expo was our official launch!
Adventure Van Expo is the ultimate gathering for those interested in #vanlife, but the event is also a great place for those of us who are in adjacent spaces. It’s an incredible gathering of van companies, businesses who support the outdoors, great food, and a lot of fun.
Getting ready for Day 1 at Palisades Tahoe
We were able to hang with our friends and expo neighbor Dave and Matt Vans! This was especially fun, because our dear friend Em is living her best life in a Dave and Matt Van!
We enjoyed the amazing food served by our friends at MOGROG Rotisserie.
And we were inspired by innovative ideas that incorporate well into the All Good Equipment life, such as the Trail Fire Grill. Check out the video summary they did on YouTube. You might even see a very special tour midway through!
If we leveraged Camp Nation to develop our story, Adventure Van Expo allowed us to practice and fine tune our storytelling.
What Did We Talk About?
How much does it weigh? Again, the number one question was about weight. There are a lot of people who have Toyota Rav4s or other cars that want to get outside. At just about 1,000 lbs (with the Sierra Overland model, being just above), these trailers are very accessible to most vehicles. Yes, this means it can be towed by your car, your Tesla, and even your VW bus, like the Bettman family does.
The trailer was built to be towed by the Bettman Family’s VW bus…if they can tow it, you can!
How big is the bed? This again was a top question. The bed is queen sized with memory foam. We had some tall visitors come by and try it out, 6' 8" being the tallest, and all were able to make it work. If you can sleep comfortably in a queen bed, you can sleep comfortably in this bed…though we can only imagine how our tallest friend makes it work. And yes, the littles and canines enjoyed the bed, too!
Oooh, cool! A BBQ! Recognizing that more and more places are no longer allowing open fire, we’ve added the option of including a Magma Kettle Grill. This gives people another option for cooking. And sticking to our belief that cooking shouldn’t be in your sleeping space, the BBQ can be removed from the trailer at the end of the night to minimize the chance of being visited by a bear.
OK, not the best pic, but you get the idea…a Magma Kettle Grill hanging off the side of a teardrop trailer…Cool!
Can I buy a table? Yes, soon. The Matts are hard at work moving beyond prototype to product for this very popular table.
Where can I get a t-shirt or hat? Funny you should ask. We're in the process of researching the best partner to put out high quality swag that has a minimal impact on the environment. Newsletter subscribers will be first to know when our store opens.
What if I want to buy a trailer? Great question. The next three trailers will be available late November, December this year. Could this trailer be the best holiday gift EVAR? Want to get on the waiting list? Email Matt B or Matt S with your interest and we'll set up a call so we can put you on the list.
We especially appreciated this feedback on IG:
“This teardrop camper reminded me of a microscopic Airstream. In the age of no wood, all composite materials, it was nice to see an old school wood interior reminiscent of a cabin or a boat. This one was basically a work of art. #allgoodequipment @allgoodequipment #teardropcamper #teardroptrailer”
Finally, we wrap up this trip report with a big THANK YOU to all who signed up for our newsletter! We are honored to have you be part of our community.
All in all, it was a great event and we loved being there!
A final picture of the team before we left…all in all, it was a great weekend.
